 The government on prohibited e-commerce platforms from selling non-essential items during the lockdown, four days after allowing the companies to sell mobile phones, refrigerators and ready-made garments. Union Home Secretary, Ajay Bhalla issued an order excluding the non-essential items from during Lockdown 3.0 in districts that have been categorised as Green and Orange Zones.



Issuing detailed guidelines on services that will be allowed during the extended lockdown, the Union Home Ministry  said the third phase of the lockdown will have some relaxations for Green and Orange zones.



So far, e-commerce providers were allowed to deliver only essential items. This was applicable throughout the country.

In Lockdown 3.0, while districts under Red zones will continue receiving delivery of essential items through e-commerce, people living in districts that have been categorised as Green and Orange Zones will also receive delivery of non-essential items.
The Union Home Ministry today announced that the lockdown has been extended by two weeks, starting May 4. Lockdown 2.0 was scheduled to end on May 3.
As per the guidelines, services like air travel, trains, metro and inter-state road movement will remain suspended.
In Orange Zone, taxis and cab aggregators will be permitted to operate with one driver and one passengers only. Inter-district movement of individuals and vehicles will be allowed only for permitted activities.
Meanwhile in Green Zone, buses can operate with up to 50 per cent capacity. Similarly, bus depots can operate with up to 50 per cent capacity, the guidelines state.
